Level 1 Course-March 31, 2012, Phoenix, AZ -Introduction to Ultrasound in Pain Mgmt- COURSE CLOSED- FULL
This level one introduction course will teach participants the following:
Introduction to Ultrasound- Ultrasound physics, basic principles (4 variables – gain, frequency, depth, focal zones) Clinical anatomy (recognizing bone, muscle, bursa, vessels, tendon, nerves) Knobology, Needle positioning (long & short axis)
Basic Ultrasound of Peripheral Nerves Ultrasound techniques for injection and diagnostics of peripheral nerves
Basic Ultrasound of Lumbar Spine – epidural and subarachnoid access, caudal injections
The Economics of Ultrasound - what you can and cannot do with ultrasound in your practice.
Basic MSK techniques – Carpal Tunnel, ACJ and GHJ injections, Hip Joint Injections, Knee Joint Injections, SIJ Injections
Open Forum Scanning – anything you would like to know and anything what was not covered during the course
Future of Ultrasound – Faculty members give closing presentation (no power points needed) on where they see ultrasound going in the future for MSK Ultrasound. Future indications, use vs. MRI/fluoro, challenges, etc.
