WAPMU (World Academy of Pain Medicine United) is a multidisciplinary educational non-profit organization conducting practical CME accredited courses and striving to provide practical and evidence-based approaches in procedural anatomy and injection techniques related to chronic pain conditions. Teaching of procedural techniques is based on published clinical and imaging studies and risk-benefit ratios.

WAPMU innovative workshops are organized as following:

Foundations of Interventional Ultrasonography

Our introduction courses are structured as a one-day interactive learning experience that will include both didactic and hands on portions. Each participant will have an opportunity to work with each of our faculty members. We will be utilizing live models to facilitate learning experience.  Practice in needle guidance using phantoms. Learn physics and basic principles of ultrasound. Identify muscles, bursa, tendon and nerves under ultrasound.  Acquire knowledge in setting up ultrasound practice, billing compliance and device handling.  Determine the use of ultrasound in the musculoskeletal and pain management arenas.

Musculoskeletal & Neurological Interventional Ultrasonography

Courses that are structured as a two-day learning experience that includes didactic sessions and hands-on training utilizing both live models and cadavers. Learn to complete a structured MSK examination of the major joints and to perform injections. Study ultrasound anatomy of the lumbar spine and pelvis, and perform common procedures.  Acquire knowledge and skills in localizing important for pain practitioner peripheral nerves, and practice in effective and safe needle guidance.

Specialty Courses

  • Interventional Ultrasound Techniques of the Spine

  • Regenerative Medicine and Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography

  • Interventional Neurosonology and Complex Pain Procedures

Our Specialty courses are structured as a two-day interactive learning experience that will include both didactic and hands on portions. Each participant will have the opportunity to work with each of our faculty members. We will be utilizing both live models as well as anatomical specimens. These courses are designed for the advanced ultrasound user and focused on specific areas of procedure-based learning including entire spine, detailed peripheral and autonomic nervous systems and musculoskeletal anatomy. Specialty-oriented procedure training is offered and dissections are performed under guidance of neurological surgeons and anatomists.

We strongly recommend our members and attendees to take step-by-step approach and to gain experience along with earning CME credits to maintain credentials for practicing ultrasonography.
